PRACTICAL PREPAREDNESS, THRIVING HOMESTEAD, LIVE INDEPENDENT
ABOUT US
Why Homesteading AND Preparedness?
Homesteading and prepping are two sides of the same coin. They are both mechanisms by which we move ourselves toward independence from the systems and structures which currently supply our needs. Systems can, and do, fail and by limiting our reliance on those systems we enable a resilient and sustainable life.
Who We Are
Sarah grew up in the PNW and has called it home for most of her life. She came to prepping from a sustainability - growing her own tomatoes - kind of place. However, the idea of being prepared, having redundancies, and not taking the 'systems' for granted made sense to her from the outset. She obtained her degree in Anthropology but currently works as an Analyst while helping Trace manage the kids and property.

Trace was born, and mostly raised, in Colorado Springs, CO. At 18 years old he enlisted in the Marine Corps, infantry, and was stationed in Camp Lejeune, NC. After he got out he attended a couple of years of college, struggling for direction. He then moved to Safford, AZ, working as a police officer for five years. He still had the military bug, so joined the Army National Guard and attended training in Ft. Bragg, NC as a Special Forces Medic (18D). Soon after completing training he got out of the military; working eight years as a paramedic, first in Colorado Springs, then on Whidbey Island, WA. He most recently worked as a bartender in Seattle and now works full time taking care of the homestead.
Our Prepping Philosophy
We are here to share our journey to and through prepping, preparedness, and self-sustainability.

We believe in preparing for success as much as for a disaster. It is far more likely we'll wake up tomorrow and life will continue on as 'normal' than waking up to the proverbial 'End of the World'. That being said, there is always the possibility of a disaster occurring - it doesn't have to be the end of THE world to affect YOUR world.

Sustainability and redundancy will serve anyone well.
